A group of sixteen young men from eight different assemblies gathered at Pine Bush Bible Camp in Bloomingburg, NY from June 21-24 for the second annual Young Men's Intensive Study (YMIS) organized by the Timotheos Project.
The Timotheos Project is a ministry launched in 2022 with a goal of training the next generation of church leaders so they may be well equipped to take on leadership roles in their local assemblies. The primary means of working towards this goal is through intensive Bible studies like this one, in which Scripture is rightly divided by faithful men of God. The studies also provide opportunity for those mature in the faith to encourage and disciple those younger in the faith.
The conference began on the afternoon of June 21 with lunch, followed by the first of nine sessions led by Scott Dunkerton of Kenilworth Gospel Chapel (Kenilworth, NJ).
Scott spoke on the concept of the Christian taking holding of eternal life now. While those who put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ receive the gift of eternal life, they need not wait until heaven to truly take hold of that wonderful gift.
In addition to Scott's messages, the young men were also able to hear from a handful of Bible teachers virtually.
On the first evening they heard from Steve Price of The Bible Chapel of Shawnee (Shawnee, KS) on Biblical manhood, and what the Bible says about how to properly serve in the roles of a father and a husband.
The following evening, they heard from JC Schroeder of Calvary Bible Chapel (Richmond, MI) who spoke on the marks of a cult and deception of man-made religion.
David Dunlap of The Land O’Lakes Bible Chapel (Land O’Lakes, FL) was the third virtual speaker, and he spoke on Biblical missionary and ways of commendation.
The young men were also sent home with one final virtual session recorded by Brian Gunning of Brockview Bible Chapel (St. Catharines, ON) who spoke on the accuracy of the Scriptures and the origins of today's Bible translations.
In between the sessions, the young men had time for fellowship. They participated in activities such as basketball, swimming, ultimate frisbee, and capture the flag.
On the second day of the conference, they also went on a hike at a local preserve.
During the hike, Ezequiel Montes of Bethany Chapel (Yonkers, NY) shared a devotional with the young men. Ezequiel founded the Timotheos Project alongside support from those at Bethany Chapel and the aforementioned brothers in Christ from fellow assemblies across the country.
Our second annual Young Men's Intensive Study was a blessing to all those involved. One of the attendees, Daniel Borkowski of Kenilworth Gospel Chapel, had the following to say about the conference: "This was arguably the best retreat I've ever attended in my life...Thank you also for providing further resources beyond the retreat. You guys are genuine brothers and servants of the Lord and I love you all!"
We are thankful to those who supported the ministry through their prayers, financial support, and in-person help leading up to and during the week of the conference. All the young men were able to attend this conference free of charge due to some gifts made to our donor advised fund at Legacy Ministry Services, including a grant from an assembly ministry interested in supporting our initiative.
Lord willing, we will add some additional Bible studies at other camps on the east coast in the coming year. We ask that you continue to keep this ministry in your prayers, and if you're interested in staying up to date with the Lord's future plans for us, request to join our mailing list by emailing us at timotheosproject@gmail.com.
