What is the Timotheos Project?

Teaching others that others may teach

The Timotheos Project is the product of generations of faithful men and women with a heart for the Lord who took it upon themselves to disciple the next generation of believers.

In 1904, a group of like-minded Christians in Yonkers, NY began a fellowship, meeting in a private home to worship the Lord in the Scriptural manner of the Church as found in the first century. As their fellowship (now known as Bethany Chapel) grew, they moved multiple times before building a chapel at 55 Greenvale Avenue in 1938 where believers have met at ever since.

The rich history of Bethany Chapel (which you can read about here) has involved a serious interest in developing the next generation of leaders. The Lord has blessed the assembly over the years with strong leaders and teachers who have been led to take on the role of Paul and invest their time in the next wave of believers with the heart of Timothy. Such an investment has paid dividends in many of the youth who have attended the chapel over the years.

In 2022, it was laid on the heart of some in the assembly, led by one of Bethany's elders, Ezequiel Montes, to give this unofficial ministry a name (the Timotheos Project) and to put it on wheels.

The primary means of working towards this goal is through the organization of intensive Bible studies to help the next generation rightly divide the word of truth. The first of these studies, a young men’s intensive study (YMIS), took place at Pine Bush Bible Camp in Bloomingburg, NY from Aug. 21-24, 2022. A group of young men received 10 sessions on Bible prophecy from Scott Dunkerton of Kenilworth Gospel Chapel. The young men also received an additional six virtual sessions on the topics of church history, eldership, apologetics, and survey of the Bible from JC Schroeder of Calvary Bible Chapel, David Dunlap of Land O’Lakes Bible Chapel, Brian Gunning of Brockview Bible Chapel, and Rob Sullivan of Bethany Chapel. A second YMIS took place from June 21-24, 2023 which you can read about here.

As the Lord wills, we seek to hold similar conferences at various camps and venues on the east coast for His glory and the edification of the saints.
