The Timotheos Project hosted its fourth annual Young Men's Intensive Study (YMIS) at Pine Bush Bible Camp in Bloomingburg, NY from June 15-18.

Launched in 2022 by Bethany Chapel (Yonkers, NY), the Timotheos Project seeks to train the next generation of church leaders so they may be well equipped to take on leadership roles in their local assemblies. The primary means of working towards this goal is through these intensive Bible studies, in which Scripture is rightly divided by faithful men of God. These gatherings also create opportunities for mature believers to encourage and disciple those who are younger in the faith.

The conference began on the evening of June 15 with dinner, followed by the first of nine teaching sessions led by Scott Dunkerton of Kenilworth Gospel Chapel (Kenilworth, NJ). The theme for Scott's nine messages was: Salvation: Past, Present, & Prophetic. All of the messages can be watched on our YouTube Channel.

In addition to Scott's messages, the young men were also able to hear from a few other Bible teachers.

On Monday Joe Wilbur of Nokesville Gospel Chapel (Nokeville, VA) joined in person for the day.

Joe provided the young men with two messages on decision-making and the Holy Spirit. If you can observe something through your senses (including “feeling it”) then it is not spiritual. Our senses lie to us all the time. We have to rely on something other than our senses or feelings, as without a guide we will not be able to discern the will of God. Praise be to God the Holy Spirit who can guide us in our decision-making by helping us discern His will as found in Scripture.

On Tuesday, David Dunlap of The Land O’Lakes Bible Chapel (Land O’Lakes, FL) joined YMIS virtually for two messages on how to overcome spiritual arrested development. We as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ should be growing and being conformed to the image of the Son (Romans 8:29, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Ephesians 4:15). However, believers can sometimes experience spiritual arrested development in which their growth is halted or stagnated at a certain stage. David provided some helpful reminders from Scripture that, if applied to our lives, can help us overcome those periods.

Before the young men returned back home on Wednesday evening, they soaked in one more virtual session where Brian Gunning of Brockview Bible Chapel (St. Catharines, ON) spoke on six reasons young men should be committed to the local church and disciplines of the man of God.

In between the sessions, the young men were treated to excellent food and good times of fellowship. While a large amount of rain poured down throughout the few days at camp, there was enough of a reprieve on Monday for the annual hike to Sam's Point.

The hike was not only physically beneficial, but also spiritually beneficial, as some devotionals were shared and many spiritual conversations were had.

We are deeply grateful to those who support this ministry through prayer, financial gifts, and hands-on help before and during the week of the conference. Because of generous contributions—including a grant from an assembly ministry committed to our mission—every participant was once again able to attend at no cost.

We ask that you continue praying for this work. If you’d like to stay updated on future plans, please email us at timotheosproject@gmail.com to join our mailing list.
